We'd like to welcome you to the brand new Legions Players website! After many days of gruelling development of the site we're finally live. We'll be following the latest news on GarageGames' upcoming game - Fallen Empire: Legions.
For those of you who haven't yet heard about Legions we'll take you through a quick overview of the history of the game.
Back in March 2006 GarageGames created a demo to show off the Torque Shader Engine at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose. The name of this demo was Legions. This demo featured one thing which made it so familiar to many fans of the popular Starsiege Tribes series - it had jetpacks.
Many Tribes players will recognise GarageGames involvement with Tribes over the years. GarageGames was formed by four former employees of Dynamix, the original company who started the Starsiege Tribes series. One of GarageGames main products, the Torque Game Engine was a modified version of the engine used for Tribes 2.
Although the public ended up seeing many sneak peaks of videos and screenshots of the demo, sadly it was to remain as a tech demo only. It appeared to be a project that several GarageGames employees wanted to do, however due to limited time it was announced that a game like Legions wouldn't be arriving any time soon. Over time we've seen various different screenshots and videos of the tech demo, but they've always been played down.
In December 2007 a leaked video of alpha footage from Legions was found unprotected on the InstantAction website. However the big news came on January 16, 2008 when IGN managed to get an exclusive interview with Josh Williams and Tim Aste. The new game in development now has full name - Fallen Empire: Legions.
So here we are, eagerly awaiting development of a game for which many people have been waiting for a long time. We'll be keeping a close eye on the upcoming Legions progress, so keep on reading!
